Premier Transportation Game Changer of the Month – October 2023
This October, we’re thrilled to recognize an exceptional member of our Premier family, Jeff Tarpley. Does that name sound familiar? Well, it should, Jeff is Carole’s husband. Jeff’s journey with us began just a year and a half ago when he started out part-time, wearing many hats from scanning to filing, and taking on whatever tasks needed to be done.
Within just two weeks, Jeff found himself in the maintenance department. Then, a remarkable opportunity arose. The maintenance AP department had an unexpected opening, and Jeff, with his accounting degree and a passion for all things tech, was the perfect candidate. Without hesitation, he was entrusted with this critical role.
Jeff not only dove in headfirst but also took it upon himself to become a master of the department. Through countless hours of trial and error, extra work at home during evenings and weekends, he transformed the AP department into a well-oiled machine. He’s taken on additional responsibilities, creating reports, reconciling tire counts in the shop, handling inventory reports, and creating invaluable spreadsheets for various scenarios.
Jeff’s contribution extends far beyond Forest Park. He’s trained clerks in Charlotte and assisted other shops with their problems and errors. He’s even engineered a predictive spreadsheet/pivot table that streamlines our weekly AP processes, saving time and reducing paper usage.
When it comes to any issue in the maintenance AP department, Jeff is the go-to person. His dedication and expertise have made a significant difference in our operations, and we’re incredibly grateful for his commitment.
Even in the face of health challenges, Jeff’s loyalty shines through. He comes to work every day with enthusiasm, knowing he’s making a real impact. He embodies the spirit of Premier Nation, and we’re proud to have him as a part of our family.
Rick Brady, our Sr. VP Director of Maintenance, also praises Jeff’s immense contributions. This is what he had to say; Jeff has undeniably made a significant contribution to the Maintenance Department. Two years ago, when we were in search of a Shop Clerk here in Forest Park, the name Jeff came up during a conversation between Carole and me. At that time, I didn’t have a deep familiarity with Jeff, but based on what I had heard, he appeared to be a great fit. We wanted to provide him with an opportunity to showcase his knowledge, moving beyond his role in the Safety Office, which involved document scanning.
Just a few weeks later, circumstances led us to require substantial assistance in our Accounts Payable (A/P) Department. I began by sharing my knowledge of our Maintenance A/P system with Jeff, and he took the reins and ran with it. Today, Jeff possesses an equivalent or even superior level of expertise in the system compared to me. He has expanded his involvement in various aspects of our Maintenance Department and has truly become a standout star.
